This is the first full-length novel I have read on the Kindle (Kindle for iPad actually) and that alone was amazing (especially in low light - the backlit iPad makes reading fun & enjoyable). While this is Mark Gudmunson's first Christian novel, I certainly hope it is not his last. He is a natural storyteller - uses everyday language and can weave his words in such a way that you can almost see the scene in your head or smell the smells or feel the rain. It's remarkable. The character building was good but often seemed a bit stilted or incomplete. I hope he continues building this group of characters (especially loved Bill) throughout more stories. I want to see where they go, what they do, and who they meet along their journey. Mark wrote this definitively Christian novel with a clear objective. Listen to your heart & that little inner voice (usually the Holy Spirit at work) - it can take you to grand places. I am so glad Mark listened to his inner voice - reading his first novel was a pleasure. I highly recommend it to Christians and all others who wish to be more opened to those inner voices. The author takes you on a ride through this story that will have you pondering the outcome for months to come. I found this book to be quite exciting and it really caused me to ponder the great "What if..." question. How would you react if you were the main character? Definitely worth a read!!!
