I love this author. It was fun reading about Agent Jana Baker and how she got her start. I couldn't put this book down once I started it and I actually read the book twice. Nathan Goodman keeps his readers involved in the plot until the end of the story. I read the other Jana Baker books and I hope Nathan continues to write books involving Jana Baker. Pick this book and start reading now. You won't be disappointed.
This book was just ridiculously predictable and full of corny, faux-sentimental characters and a poor, predictable plot that was just recycled nonsense. I can't even recommend it for a light, easy read as it was just so silly. No character development and a plot that could have been done by a 12-year old with a laptop. So disappointing.

Nathan Goodman’s newest release, while a prequel to the whole series, gives us some interesting insight into Jana’s special character. What was going to be just a new day of starting work turns into a whirlwind of intrigue, mystery and dangerous liaison until it’s intense and thrilling ending!
It’s an outstanding book that must be on your, “Got to read this one next!” list.
This is an FBI novel not really a spy novel like James Bond. It deals with the emotions of the characters and secondly with the actions. It is not filled with gore and killing. It is more realistic than many novels of the same genre. The story flowed easily and quickly. There were many a Techniques used to enhance the story. I liked them all. I am going to read the next story in the series next. This was a standalone story with a complete and satisfying ending. Job well done.
To first start by sharing my point of view and general interests, I am a longtime fan of authors such as Ludlum, Baldacci, Thor, Koonts, Flynn, etcetera. My reading of Protocol One went by quickly. The story engages you from the beginning and moves briskly as it introduces and develops the character of Jana Baker. I also found myself liking Chuck Stone, the FBI agent.
Having read it first, it set the stage for my reading of the Fourteenth Protocol, which am really enjoying. I am looking forward to reading more of Nathan Goodman's works.
I have just discovered an awesome author. Nathan Goodman has proved himself equal to the finest authors in his genre. From the time you open the first page, until you reluctantly close the last, you will find yourself completely enthralled. I rank Protocol One high on the list of my “up all night” tales. It's so good that you just can’t put it down. I recently discovered the world of Indie Writers, and Mr. Goodman leapt immediately to the top of my favorite authors. He has the uncanny ability to create characters that feel like friends you have known all your life. His plot lines are engaging… he piques your interest, and you must find out what happens next. If you are like me, you won’t regret buying Nathan’s books. Pick one up, and settle into your favorite chair. You will be there for a while.
Nathan Goodman has introduced a great female main character in Jana Baker. She starts out as an intern and quickly winds up in over her head being recruited to work as an informant for an alphabet soup agency. There is a good deal of action that keeps you on the edge of your seat, but Goodman also spends time on character development to pull you in to the story and the people. If you are looking for a thriller/suspense read with a strong female lead, Goodman's Protocol series is for you. Give it a try--you'll be glad you did! I'm looking forward to the next in the series, and I bet you will be, too!
