I’ve always been scared to try soldering, I was afraid I’d burn the house down. I’ve tried so many other books, videos and even a class but even with a fire extinguisher right beside me I just couldn’t get the courage to do anything other than the most basic soldering. After reading and then going back and following the instructions in this book I am finally getting over my fear and beginning to be able to make jewelry that has to be soldiered!! Too short, not enough info, projects not great
Very interesting and can't wait to try it out. Very well written and explained would recommend to anyone who wants to do this type of work
This has given me ideas for how to take some of my pendants to the next level. Instructions are clear and easy to follow even if you have never thought of soldering.
Great book, good ideas and pictures.
Once again Barbaraaa Tilley has put together a great book! She has only a few projects but each one has great pictures and concise instructions. This time she has taken the fear of the torch out of soldering. Add to that a very "crafty" approach to the bezel and this book one to check out!!
I would have given it 5 stars if there were more varied materials used in the projects and/or a chart showing potential materials commonly used with a chart showing if it will handle shattering. I'm excited to try this out using my shattering iron i to use for electric repairs on my trawler. It has low and high heat and the only difference is it has a more stable and safe holding stand.
Book was very informative. I've been making beaded and wire wrap jewelry for years and I have a good collection of "stuff" that I never quite had any idea what I wanted to use it for. This book gives you the basics without having to go out and purchase a lot of expensive items. The only thing that I had to buy was the copper foil tape. They had it at Michael's it was not expensive. I had already been trying my hand with little solder projects like jump rings on jewelry so they wouldn't come apart. That is why I had the rest of the basic material needed for these projects.
